Can you think ‘outside the box’ with me for just a few moments?
From my perspective as a 10-year webmaster/marketer, I see the biggest problems for rental or real estate agencies in marketing properties on the Internet are these …
- most agencies spend a tremendous amount of time and effort … and money … creating beautiful websites that display their properties in many marvelous ways, but they have no effective strategy for attracting viewers to see their websites … and lack of viewers becomes their biggest problem
- too many websites are still created as ‘electronic brochures’ … the effort is to get the property profile information pages up on the website, and then too often no one ever updates them again.
- and sadly, too often there is no easy way for the viewer to effectively contact the agency about a property … often there is one ‘Contact Us’ link / web page, and the viewer is forced to write far too much to communicate clearly … and they simply don’t do it … sometimes not even including the property name that they are requesting information for … so you get a contact but you have no idea what it is they want from you.

I also find that most people who are not deeply involved in Internet marketing have almost no idea of what it takes to get their website listed in the search engines … especially the big important one, Google … which is still a great way to get viewers to your website.
While Google is continuously tweaking their search algorithm … [An algorithm (pronounced AL-go-rith-um) is a procedure or formula for solving a problem ... and the problem in this case is the display of search results] … Google does have some basic and relatively simple rules for choosing the web pages that it displays in its search results …
- Google is primarily looking for CONTENT … mostly text information, but also video, audio, and images … and this content must be relevant and up-to-date … and the more recent the better. Google’s search robots that visit your website are continuously looking for NEW content … when they don’t find it after several visits, they come visiting less frequently. Then when you do add some new content, it may not get found and listed on Google for months.
On the other hand, websites that are frequently updated with new content … almost daily … attract the Google search robots much more often … sometimes returning to the site several times a day to see what’s new. Web pages with new content from these websites appear on Google often within hours of being published.
- Google is also looking for OTHER websites that LINK to your website … and the more of these incoming links the better. Google’s theory is that if many websites link to a website, then that website must be important … and Google pays much more attention to a website with many incoming links … a website they call an ‘Authority’ website. So getting links from other websites to your website is a very important part of your Internet marketing strategy if you want to succeed.
- Many people have heard that ‘keywords’ are important … and they are, but no longer in the way so many people think. Your chosen keywords, or keyword phrases, belong in the Content information that your viewer sees … where Google does pay attention to them. Google no longer pays any attention at all to keywords added to the Meta Tags of your web page.
I could go on, but for now I wanted to simply list some of the problems that so many agencies face in their Internet marketing. And why? Because when you can identify the problem, and provide a solution … you have something that people want… right?
My background and expertise is in Internet marketing and websites, databases and electronic communications … all the things you wish you didn’t need to know all about … and I can help you. In fact I want to work WITH you … to collaborate together … because you have the expertise in the rental and real estate business … and I need your expertise too.
When Rentals - Real Estate - Mexico was first conceived several years ago, I had just ‘failed’ at another ‘rental’ marketing project … I called it ‘Global Property Rentals’ … it was my first big database website as a marketing endeavor back about 6 years ago. While it was somewhat successful in that it had several hundred properties from over 30 countries on it … the big problem was that its ‘global’ aspect meant that there was no ‘focus’ … properties were from all over the world … and it was very difficult to get any great links from Google and the other search engines back then. My situation was just the opposite to being successful in a small niche business and targeting particular keywords for the search engines. I learned a lot from that experience.
I decided that I would retreat from the world stage and concentrate on ‘just Mexico’ … Rentals - Real Estate - Mexico became the new project. The basic ‘Property Listing’ part of the project was old hat, as well as the administration screens needed for owners / agents to manage their properties. But it was some time before I conceived of the concept of a NETWORK of websites where properties from any particular City website could also be displayed on all the other websites in the network through a ‘Search Mexico’ feature. To be able to add a property profile on one website and have it available on multiple other websites too … seemed like a great idea. If ‘Location’ is so important, why not get the property on multiple locations? It’s sort of like advertising your property in one local newspaper, but the same ad appears automatically in other magazines and newspapers all over the country too.
But there was still something missing … a great way of attracting thousands of viewers every day to all our websites …
One day while I was talking to a client who was having trouble getting traffic to her website, the idea came to me… I had been talking about the importance of NEW Content with this client, and had mentioned how the new ‘blog-format’ websites had become the fastest and easiest way to attract the attention of the search engines. I told her she needed a blog too to drive traffic to her website … but she said she couldn’t afford the money to set up another blog website or the time to manage the blog. I agreed with her at the time, but I just couldn’t let go of the idea. Late one night a few days later as I was drifting off to sleep, the idea came to me …
I needed to have a blog on each of the City websites in the Rentals - Real Estate - Mexico (RREM) network. A blog could make each of those city websites wildly successful by driving tons of viewer traffic each day to see the property profiles that were listed. But where was I going to get the content information for the blog? … Who’s the expert/authority on rentals and real estate in Mexico? … YOU are! … I developed a plan that would help you make a giant step forward with your Internet marketing, and at the same time give RREM what it needed for success too … so we both win big!

Blogs have a special built-in feature that allows the content of a ‘post’ that you put on your blog to be sent automatically to other people and websites on the internet using RSS news feeds. When you post a new information article on your BICC, the websites on the RREM marketing network could receive the information from your RSS news feed, and your information could then be posted on our City website blogs too.
Now pay attention … When a secondary website picks up a news item like this, it is normal to only take an excerpt of the information and provide a LINK back to the original blog website for the full article … this means you’re getting one-way incoming LINKS to YOUR blog website!
Now another important thing to note here is that any other website that also picks up your story from your blog, or from our City blog RSS news feed, also will provide a LINK back to your blog website. Do you see how you can build up LINKS coming to your blog very easily with some good news stories that you, as the expert, could write fairly easily about rentals or real estate?
Ok, now you have an increasing number of links coming to your blog website from the information posts that you write. It is simple to re-direct that traffic with links from your BICC to your main website where you have been looking for more viewer traffic for so long.
With the new blog BICC website that is part of your property advertising package with RREM, it becomes easy … and free … to add new information articles frequently enough to get tons of new traffic for not only your BICC but for your main website too.

Web 1.0, the old way of using electronic brochure websites, is fast becoming a thing of the past.
Web 2.0 marketing is all about interaction with viewers… and building relationships and trust … through powerful new communications using the Internet.
There is one more powerful lead-getting feature that is built into the RREM network of websites. On the top navigation menu you will see a ‘Help’ option. This links to what we call our ‘Viewer Property Help Requests’ web page. When viewers cannot find a property that they are looking for, they can complete the Special Request form by providing their Contact information and a description of the property. This request is processed by our system and the Request is added to a special page of your RREM Admin section. But the system is selective … it only places the Request with Agencies located in the City that the viewer requests, and only with the Agencies that already advertise properties of the type requested. You and other agencies in your city offering that type of property can then respond to the viewer directly. This feature is used often by agencies from other cities, travel agencies, holiday and business planners often from outside of Mexico, as well as individual viewers seeking a property for themselves. This feature can be an additional excellent source of leads for your properties … and it’s part of the RREM package of benefits.
